We are recruiting for a Cook to join our team at Coton House Residential Home.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about preparing nutritious, home-cooked meals and understands the important role good food plays in health and wellbeing.

Coton House is a 24-bed residential care home in Wolverhampton (WV4), providing specialist care and support for older adults and people living with dementia.

We pride ourselves on creating a warm, homely environment where residents receive high-quality care and enjoy freshly prepared meals, tailored to their individual needs and preferences.

  • Shift times: 07:00-13:45 and 15:30–17:30
  • Rate of pay: £13.00 per hour
  • Schedule: Rota basis, including weekends and bank holidays

We are looking for someone who is passionate about cooking and takes pride in preparing a variety of nutritious, high-quality meals for the people who live in our care home.

You will be responsible for planning, preparing, and cooking both hot and cold meals, ensuring all dishes meet residents' dietary requirements, nutritional needs, and individual preferences.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to

  • Preparing and cooking nutritious, well-balanced meals and snacks.
  • Plan or contribute to menus with a focus on fresh ingredients and balanced nutrition, and resident choice.
  • Maintaining accurate records of food supplies and deliveries
  • Ensure all equipment is cleaned, well maintained, and stored appropriately
  • Maintaining high standards of cleanliness throughout the kitchen and dining areas.
  • Complying with food safety, infection control, and health and safety procedures at all times.
  • Experience working as a Cook in a care home, nursing home or similar setting
  • A hands-on approach, with the ability to prepare, cook, serve meals, and assist with clearing and cleaning as required.
  • Good knowledge of nutrition for older people, including special diets, allergens, and texture-modified meals.
  • Understanding of food safety, allergens, and 5 star kitchen hygiene standards
  • A genuine passion for providing high-quality meals
