My name is Liam, and I live in the Wishaw area. I am a fun-loving young man with a great sense of humour, and I am looking for a Personal Assistant to provide one-to-one support both at home and out in the community. Some of my favourite activities include watching football and other sports on TV, shopping, listening to music, and socialising. You will take a proactive and innovative approach to supporting me to take part in activities that suit my needs and interests, helping me to enjoy a full and meaningful lifestyle.
In this role, you will support me with a range of daily living activities, including personal care and participation in social activities. I have a physical disability and require support to help me live as independently and actively as possible, and your role will be key in enabling me to achieve this. This will involve assisting with all aspects of personal care such as showering, toileting (including bowel movements), and shaving.
You will also support me with medication, preparing meals and healthy snacks, and assisting with feeding and drinking. You will provide moving and handling support, including pushing my manual wheelchair and using both manual and tracking hoists. Additional duties will include household shopping, collecting prescriptions, and supporting me when travelling on public transport. The role may also involve sleepovers, overnighters, holidays, and staying in my home when my parents are away.
About You
- Warm, friendly, and approachable
- Caring and patient with a genuine desire to work in a supportive role
- A good communicator with strong interpersonal skills
- Proactive and encouraging, with a positive attitude
- Relevant experience is preferred but not essential, as full training will be provided.
Recruiting for 1 position. Guaranteed permanent contract of 18 hours per week. There is a possibility that a full-time post may become available in the future. Typical working pattern includes weekdays with an 8AM start and Saturdays from 8AM, as and when required. Flexibility is essential. You will need to be available for sleepovers, overnight stays, holidays, and to stay in my home when my parents are away. There will be no requirement to work on Christmas Day or New Year’s Day. Any changes or additional hours will be discussed in advance where possible.
