An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Registered Nurse who is motivated, innovative and experienced in Multiple Sclerosis, to join the Community Neurological Rehabilitation Team.
The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate advanced knowledge and desire for improving Multiple Sclerosis services and facilitating care that demonstrates best practice, in the assessment and management of people who have been diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis.
You will be a highly clinically skilled nurse with good interpersonal and communication skills. You must have 1st level registration with evidence of post registration practice.
The successful candidate needs to be motivated to support the ongoing development and management of the Multiple Sclerosis service. Experience of working independently and using own initiative is essential. You must be able to organise your own workload to manage the caseload effectively.
You will need excellent leadership, communication, organisational and supervision skills and sound clinical knowledge.
The Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) works as part of the Community Neurological Rehabilitation Team (CNRT) supporting all aspects of care for people with MS in Walsall. The post holder will provide specialist nursing assessment, review and intervention to the population of people with Multiple Sclerosis within Walsall and work as an effective member of the multidisciplinary CNRT.
The team aim to provide coordinated rehabilitation and long term neurological condition management, demonstrating an integrated approach to care across acute and community settings. The post holder will ensure a person centred approach in representing and consulting with clients to promote autonomy and quality of life whilst living with a neurological condition.
Working in a non-medical prescribing role, the post holder will also oversee the care and support for patients on disease modifying therapies including development of pathways to support emerging treatments closer to home. This will involve working in partnership with Consultant Neurologists and MS Specialist Nursing staff at Regional MS Centre – Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham and cross-boundary Consultant Neurologists.
The successful candidate must also be able to travel throughout the borough during the working day as the post requires.
