Specialty Doctor - Golborne Unit | Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust
The post holder will attend multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings, conduct patient reviews, create and manage treatment plans, chair MDTs, and make clinical decisions in the absence of the consultant, seeking advice from the covering consultant when appropriate.
The post holder will also complete, review and authorise treatment plans and discharge summaries as required, assess and manage the physical health of patients on the ward, and undertake mental health act (MHA) work including preparation of tribunal reports and presentation of evidence at tribunal hearings.
Responsibilities
- Attend MDT, conduct reviews, create management plans for patients on the ward, chair MDTs, and make decisions about patient care in the absence of the consultant.
- Complete, review and authorise treatment plans and discharge summaries.
- Prepare MHA work, including preparation of tribunal reports and presenting evidence at tribunal hearings.
- Assess and manage physical health for patients on the ward.
- Participate in leading clinical decision making in the multidisciplinary team to ensure delivery of high‑quality care.
- Help develop service clinical priorities in line with national and professional guidance and standards.
- Contribute to clinical governance activities such as audits and quality improvement projects.
- Educational roles: provide supervision and support to doctors in training; provide teaching to medical students and doctors in training working in the trust.
