About the role

As our Site Maintenance Operative, you'll play a key role in ensuring our 84-acre site remains safe, welcoming and well maintained for the people we support, visitors and colleagues. You will carry out the day-to-day maintenance of our buildings and grounds, coordinating and completing repairs, carrying out planned maintenance and responding to unexpected issues as they arise.

What you will be doing

  • Carrying out general maintenance across our 84-acre site in Standish, Wigan.
  • Completing basic joinery, painting and decorating to a professional standard.
  • Undertaking basic plumbing repairs and maintenance.
  • Maintaining our gardens and outdoor spaces to a high standard.
  • Operating a tractor, sit-on lawn mower and grading machinery safely and effectively.
  • Coordinating maintenance tasks, assessing priorities and planning workloads.
  • Sourcing equipment, materials and supplies required for maintenance projects.
  • Overseeing site maintenance, servicing schedules and contractor repairs.
  • Ensuring all work is completed in line with Health & Safety legislation and best practice.
  • Responding to occasional out-of-hours emergencies and locking up the site when required.

What we are looking for

  • Experienced in general building and site maintenance.
  • Skilled in basic joinery, painting/decorating and plumbing.
  • Confident operating tractors, ride-on mowers and grounds maintenance equipment.
  • Organised with the ability to prioritise workloads and coordinate multiple tasks.
  • Knowledgeable about Health & Safety and safe working practices.
  • A confident problem solver with a positive, can-do attitude.
  • Flexible and willing to participate in occasional emergency call outs and out of hours duties.
  • Full UK driving licence required.
