Rainbow ward is seeking an enthusiastic Paediatric nurse to join their busy acute Paediatric ward working within Wrightington Wigan and Leigh. We are keen to recruit an experienced nurse who is looking to develop their professional leadership and clinical skills within acute paediatrics. Rainbow ward is a paediatric service run by a friendly, dynamic, talented team of professionals; we deliver high quality, compassionate care to the local community and beyond. We strive to provide a positive patient experience in a safe environment, and we actively promote a family centred approach in the delivery of care.
We operate a 24-hour, 7 day a week shift pattern which will include weekends and nights on a rotational basis. As a band 6 Paediatric nurse on Rainbow ward, you will form part of an established nursing team, act as a senior, positive role model for your colleagues, demonstrate clinical competence and effective leadership skills.
You will be responsible for:
- Coordinating shifts and allocating duties to junior staff members.
- Ensuring patient safety is prioritised by communicating effectively with all members of the multi-disciplinary team.
- Deputising for the senior sister, ensuring that clinical standards are maintained and that trust policies and procedures are adhered to.
- Delivering individualised, holistic care to a diverse population, acknowledging the needs of the patient and family.
- Utilising your assessment skills to assess, monitor and prioritise patient care.
- Working with the medical team to ensure patients receive the care they need in an appropriate time scale.
- Responding confidently to urgent critical care needs that require prompt action.
