We're on a journey to build a workforce reflective of our Borough. We are committed to fostering diverse teams where everybody can bring their authentic selves to work and feel that they belong. If you want to work for a Council where everybody is encouraged to meet their full potential and make a difference in our neighbourhoods, we would love to hear from you!

Your role: As a Be Well Receptionist, you will work within the various leisure facilities across the Borough. You will act as the first point of contact for service users and will support customers with a range of enquiries including bookings for swimming lessons and gym sessions and promote the benefits of the Be Well membership packages. You will provide a comprehensive, efficient, and effective telephony, online and face-to-face customer advisory service by acting as the first point of contact to the leisure centre. You will use effective communication skills to actively engage and provide professional responses to resolve customer queries.

About you: The ideal person for this role needs to be able to plan, work and manage their time efficiently and effectively demonstrating accurate and concise work. You must have good organisational, verbal and written communication skills and use your own initiative and work flexibly as part of a team. A good knowledge of computer systems and experience in inputting and extracting data such as databases, spreadsheets, word-processing packages, and email is key to the receptionist role. The role at times is demanding so experience in working in a customer service environment is beneficial and you can identify problems and seek effective solutions.

About us: Wigan Council has been voted ‘Overall Council of the Year’ at the APSE (Association for Public Service Excellence) Awards. We are signed up to the Greater Manchester Continuous Service Commitment ensuring that your service will be continuous or 'unbroken' between the supporting organisations. The Progress with Unity plan is a place movement for change for the next decade, bringing a new era for Wigan Borough. It draws on the strengths of our individual organisations, recognising that together we can achieve much more for our communities by delivering on our two place missions: create fair opportunities for all children, families, residents and businesses and make our towns and neighbourhoods flourish for those who live and work in them. The Be Well team are committed to support the health and wellbeing of our residents across the Wigan Borough. Whether this be supporting our youngest residents embark on their first swimming lesson or supporting individuals and community groups with existing exercise and wellbeing programmes. We pride ourselves on offering an extensive and diverse range of physical activities to support our residents to encourage everyone to get active and achieve a healthier lifestyle and increase sport participation.

To be appointed to this role you must be able to prove your right to work in the UK, and you must maintain a valid (active) right to work. Please note, at present we are not a licenced sponsor.
