I'm recruiting for a Health & Safety Officer to join a well-established social housing organisation on a temporary rolling contract. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced housing-sector Health & Safety professional seeking an immediate start, with the possibility of a long-term or permanent position.
Working closely with operational teams, contractors and senior stakeholders, you will support the delivery of health and safety compliance across housing repairs, maintenance, compliance and planned investment programmes.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide competent health and safety advice across housing maintenance and property operations.
- Conduct audits, inspections and compliance reviews across occupied residential properties and workplaces.
- Review and approve risk assessments, method statements and safe systems of work.
- Support contractor management processes and ensure compliance with relevant legislation.
- Investigate incidents, accidents and near misses, identifying corrective actions and driving improvements.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of health and safety policies and procedures.
- Deliver toolbox talks, briefings and training sessions to operational teams.
- Support compliance across key property safety areas including fire, asbestos, gas, electrical and legionella management.
- Produce health and safety reports, recommendations and performance data for management teams.
- Promote a positive health and safety culture across the organisation.
Requirements
- Previous Health & Safety experience within the social housing sector is ideal, with facilities, estates, construction experience considered.
- NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent.
- Experience supporting repairs, maintenance, compliance or housing property services.
- Strong knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation.
- Experience carrying out audits, inspections and incident investigations.
- Ability to influence and engage with both operational teams and senior stakeholders.
- Excellent communication and report-writing skills.
- Full UK driving licence.
