There is an exciting opportunity to join a friendly, supportive team working in Emergency Care. We are currently looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our A&E reception team to work on our friendly reception desks.

The successful applicants should be excellent communicators with good telephone skills and can deal with the general public daily, also having a positive approach to customer care. The role will involve providing reception support to the clinical team within the A&E department. You will also act as a focal point of communication between patients, ambulance crews and clinical staff.

In addition, it is a necessity that applicants have a good standard of IT skills and be able to work on their own initiative and as part of a team. Flexibility is required as you will be expected to work a range of shifts each week which will include weekdays, evenings, weekends and bank holidays on a rota basis. This is planned in advance and offers flexibility with shifts. The current shifts are 0730-1530 and 1530-Midnight.

You will be the first point of contact for patients, visitors and other health care professionals to the emergency department on arrival at the reception desk, whether this will be front facing or via telephone, to ensure they receive an excellent customer service experience. The successful applicant will have a friendly and professional attitude, good IT and organisational skills and be able to accurately complete/input data. The successful candidate will also need to be able to deal with difficult and stressful situations with courtesy and empathy.

The duties consist of patient registration using Careflow EPR (full training given). Other duties include appointment booking, scanning, and dealing with a range of enquiries, in person, by phone or by email in an efficient, polite and courteous manner.
