About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and empathetic Learning Support Assistant to support pupils aged 16 - 19 years with their academic progress, behaviour, and personal development. You will play a key role in helping students overcome barriers to learning, build confidence, and stay engaged in education.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group mentoring to students
  • Support pupils with behaviour, attendance, and engagement
  • Build positive relationships and act as a trusted adult
  • Deliver mentoring sessions focused on confidence, resilience, and goal setting
  • Work closely with teaching staff, pastoral teams, and SENCO
  • Monitor and track student progress

About You

  • Experience working with young people (schools, youth work, coaching, or similar)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to build rapport with challenging or disengaged students
  • Patient, resilient, and proactive
  • Passionate about supporting young people to succeed
  • Experience in SEN, SEMH, or alternative provision
  • Background in psychology, youth work, or education
  • Behaviour management training
