The predicted salary is between 28142 - 29540 £ per year.

You will ensure properties within the Council’s boundary are contained on the appropriate Valuation listing that being either the Council Tax list or the Business Rates listing. You will provide advice and guidance on all aspects of Council Tax, in particular on the complex area of liability, to the customer or their representative.

About you: The role offers scope to really expand your knowledge and skills, that contributes to various aspects of billing, collection and recovery of Council Tax and Business Rates. Ability to deal with customers through a variety of channels, including email, letter, telephone and occasionally face to face. You will be an enthusiastic, committed team player, understanding best practice and customer contact procedures with experience in debt collection. You must be able to manage your own workload and ensure you are effective in balancing priorities. The position is highly demanding, you will be dealing with a high workload. We are looking for someone with a professional and friendly approach to give excellent customer service to our customers.

What you will do:

  • Responsible for compilation of accurate reports that are submitted to the Valuation Office Agency detailing new properties to be added to the Council Tax list, properties to be removed from the list and other appropriate changes.
  • Processing reports received from the Valuation Office Agency by updating computer records with required changes reported.
  • The serving of completion notices on owners in accordance with the legislation.
  • Undertake investigations and enquiries as necessary where information is disputed, incomplete or inaccurate to resolve the matter.
  • To establish entitlement to exemptions, discounts and reliefs in accordance with legislation and case-law.
  • Attendance at Valuation Tribunal, when required, to defend the serving of a completion notice.

This position has a requirement for a Standard DBS Check.
