Purpose of the Role

To provide high-quality, safe and person-centred care and wellbeing support to adults within their own homes, while acting as a senior point of support for clients and colleagues.

The Wellbeing Co-ordinator role includes responsibility for:

  • Role-modelling best practice
  • Escalating concerns appropriately
  • Contributing to quality, safety and continuous improvement

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver compassionate, respectful and individualised care that reflects each client’s needs, preferences, life history and wellbeing goals.
  • Promote independence at all times, encouraging clients to remain involved in their own care wherever possible.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with clients and families, providing reassurance, continuity and emotional support.
  • Ensure care is delivered in line with personalised care plans, risk assessments and agreed outcomes.

2. Leadership & Support for Colleagues

  • Act as a positive role model for Wellbeing Support Workers, demonstrating best practice at all times.
  • Provide day-to-day guidance, reassurance and informal mentoring to colleagues where needed.
  • Support new starters during shadow shifts and induction periods.
  • Raise concerns about practice, training needs or wellbeing of staff appropriately with management.

3. Daily Living Support & Home Environment

  • Support clients with daily living activities, including personal care, domestic tasks, laundry, bed-making and maintaining a clean, homely environment.
  • Assist with meal preparation in line with dietary requirements, preferences and food hygiene standards.
  • Support light gardening or outdoor tasks where appropriate to promote wellbeing and independence.

4. Health, Safety & Infection Prevention and Control (IPC)

  • Ensure high standards of IPC are maintained at all times, including correct hand hygiene, PPE use and waste disposal.
  • Identify and report infection risks, environmental hazards or unsafe practices promptly.
  • Support safe moving and handling practices in line with training, risk assessments and client needs.
  • Use household equipment safely and report any defects or risks.
  • (Where trained and delegated) Support medication administration or prompts in line with company policy, MAR charts and CQC requirements.
  • Observe, recognise and respond to changes in clients’ physical health, mood, cognition or behaviour.
  • Ensure concerns are documented accurately and escalated promptly to management or relevant professionals.

6. Safeguarding, MCA & DoLS

  • Safeguard adults at risk in line with James Signature Care policies and local authority procedures.
  • Work in accordance with the Mental Capacity Act (MCA), ensuring decisions are made in clients’ best interests.
  • Understand and support lawful DoLS arrangements where applicable.
  • Escalate safeguarding concerns, allegations or unsafe practice immediately and professionally.

7. GDPR, Confidentiality & Professional Conduct

  • Maintain strict confidentiality of client, staff and service information in line with GDPR and company policy.
  • Ensure care records and documentation are accurate, timely and completed to a high standard.
  • Maintain professional boundaries and represent James Signature Care with integrity, warmth and respect at all times.

8. Community Access, Companionship & Wellbeing

  • Provide meaningful companionship, emotional reassurance and social engagement.
  • Support clients to attend appointments, activities, hobbies and community opportunities where required.
  • Encourage routines and activities that promote emotional, physical and social wellbeing.
  • Participate in supervisions, training, reflective practice and quality improvement activities.
  • Contribute to audits, spot checks and feedback processes when requested.
  • Share learning, ideas and concerns to support a strong culture of safety, openness and improvement.
