These flexible opportunities are ideal for SEND 1:1 Teaching Assistants who enjoy variety and want to make a positive impact across different school settings. You’ll be working on a daily supply basis in Watford and the surrounding areas, supporting pupils with special educational needs on a one-to-one basis.

Duties as SEND 1:1 Teaching Assistant:

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support for pupils with a range of SEND including autism, ADHD, SEMH, and speech and language needs
  • Work closely with class teachers and SENCOs to implement personalised learning plans
  • Support pupils in accessing the curriculum and developing social and emotional skills
  • Promote inclusion and positive behaviour in the classroom
  • Assist with personal care and mobility where required
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to reviews and assessments
  • Adapt quickly to different school environments and pupil needs

Ideal SEND 1:1 Teaching Assistant:

  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEND in school or care settings
  • Proven ability to build strong, trusting relationships with individual pupils
  • Understanding of EHCPs and strategies for supporting diverse needs
  • Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent (desirable)
  • Calm, patient, and resilient approach to behaviour and communication
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one
