Band 3 - Resuscitation Service Technician, Deteriorating Patient Team in Watford

The Deteriorating Patient Team is expanding, and we are delighted to recruit two full time Resuscitation Service Technicians to join our vibrant, forward thinking service. Working Monday to Friday, 08:00–16:00, you will be primarily based at Watford Hospital while also supporting activity across all three Trust sites. This cross site working brings variety, visibility and the chance to make a meaningful impact across the organisation.

This exciting role puts you at the heart of our resuscitation training programme. You’ll deliver engaging basic life support (BLS) and AED sessions for clinical staff and new starters, support the running of in house RCUK courses, and ensure training equipment is clean, organised and ready to go. You’ll also help monitor emergency equipment stores and contribute to key audits, including the annual Resuscitation Trolley Audit.

As a Resuscitation Technician, the primary focus of your role will be delivering high quality Basic Life Support (BLS) and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) training to clinical staff and new starters across the Trust. This includes preparing the training environment, setting up and clearing equipment, and facilitating sessions to ensure staff gain the confidence and competence required for safe clinical practice. You will also support the planning and smooth running of Resuscitation Council UK courses, contributing to the organisation and coordination of these essential training events.

As a Resuscitation Technician, you will support the delivery of high quality patient care by providing Basic Life Support and AED training to clinical staff across the Trust. You will manage your workload effectively, work in accordance with Trust policies, and elevate concerns promptly to maintain safe and consistent practice. A core part of the role is promoting dignity, respect and inclusion, ensuring that all staff and patients are treated in line with the Trust’s values and commitment to excellent patient experience.

You will assist in delivering essential life support training, helping to maintain high standards of education in line with Trust and RCUK guidelines. You will ensure that training records are accurate and up to date, supporting the smooth operation of the Resuscitation Service and contributing to the development of confident, well prepared clinical teams.

In your role as a Resuscitation Technician, you will demonstrate professionalism at all times, working within your defined scope of practice and seeking support when required. You will uphold Trust policies, maintain uniform standards, and take responsibility for keeping your knowledge current. By modelling good practice and contributing to audit activity, you will help maintain a safe, effective and evidence based working environment.

You will support the Resuscitation and Deteriorating Patient Team by assisting with the collection and input of audit data. Your contribution will help monitor training activity, identify areas for improvement and support the Trust’s commitment to safe, high quality care.

You will work in line with Trust policies and procedures relating to the delivery of resuscitation training, ensuring safe and consistent practice. You will also assist in incident reporting and accident prevention, supporting the wider governance processes that underpin safe and effective service delivery.
