We are looking for a reliable and hardworking Waste Porter to join our Logistics Services Team, supporting the safe and efficient movement, collection, storage, and disposal of waste across a busy hospital environment. Working as part of a wider facilities team, you will play an important role in maintaining a safe, clean, and well-organised environment for patients, staff, and visitors. The role involves transporting waste and other materials throughout the site while ensuring all procedures are followed in accordance with health, safety, infection prevention, and environmental policies. This is a varied, physically active role that would suit someone who enjoys working as part of a team, takes pride in maintaining high standards, and can adapt to changing operational demands.

The Role

  • Collect, transport, and dispose of a range of hospital waste streams in accordance with established procedures.
  • Move waste carts between wards, departments, and the Facilities Management yard.
  • Operate service vehicles and tugs safely and effectively to transport materials across the site.
  • Collect confidential waste, non-stock requests, and sharps containers from designated areas.
  • Transfer waste containers through the subterranean network and return empty bins to departments as required.
  • Maintain high standards of health and safety, infection prevention, and environmental compliance at all times.
  • Work closely with colleagues to ensure services are delivered efficiently and effectively.
  • Undertake any additional duties appropriate to the role as required.
