The Opportunity

A growing construction contractor is looking to appoint a Construction Planner to support the successful delivery of a diverse portfolio of fit-out, refurbishment and commercial construction projects across Yorkshire and the wider region.

This is an excellent opportunity for a planner looking to develop their career within a business that delivers projects across a variety of sectors, including commercial, education, healthcare, industrial and public sector environments.

You’ll work closely with operational and commercial teams to develop, monitor and maintain project programmes, ensuring projects are delivered efficiently and on schedule.

The Role

  • Producing detailed construction programmes from tender stage through to project completion.
  • Developing and maintaining project schedules using industry-standard planning software.
  • Working closely with Contracts Managers, Project Managers and Site Teams to monitor progress.
  • Identifying programme risks, delays and opportunities for improvement.
  • Preparing short-term and long-term project programmes.
  • Monitoring project performance against key milestones.
  • Supporting tender submissions with construction programmes and sequencing plans.
  • Assisting with resource planning and allocation.
  • Producing progress reports and programme updates for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Attending site visits and project meetings as required.

About You

We’re keen to speak with individuals who have experience within construction planning, project coordination or site management and are looking to further their career within a busy construction environment.

You should possess

  • Experience within the construction industry, ideally covering fit-out, refurbishment or commercial building projects.
  • Strong understanding of construction sequencing, project delivery and programme management.
  • Experience using planning software such as Microsoft Project, Asta Powerproject or Primavera.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with site, commercial and pre-construction teams.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
  • A proactive and driven approach to project delivery.
  • Previous experience working for a main contractor or specialist fit-out contractor.
  • Site-based experience in a supervisory, management or planning capacity.
  • Knowledge of NEC and JCT contract environments.
