An excellent opportunity for a qualified tutor with experience of adult or post-16 learning, assessment, programme development, quality improvement and partnership working. This role is officially known as a Programme Development Worker.

This is a rewarding opportunity for a Tutor / Programme Coordinator to support adult community learning, study programme delivery and supported internship provision. As a Tutor / Programme Coordinator, you will teach and assess learners while helping to develop programmes, support tutors, improve teaching and learning, monitor achievement and contribute to quality assurance. The Tutor / Programme Coordinator will work across sites in Bolsover and Chesterfield, supporting learners, colleagues, families, employers and partner agencies to achieve positive outcomes.

DUTIES

  • Teach and Assess Learners: Deliver teaching and assessment as a qualified tutor, supporting learners to develop confidence, skills, achievement and progression.
  • Develop Learning Programmes: Assist with the development and implementation of adult community learning programmes within a defined locality and theme.
  • Support Teaching Staff: Supervise, advise and motivate tutors, including support with performance, training, development, absence management and recruitment activity.
  • Improve Teaching and Learning: Take part in observation of learning and teaching, monitor improvement actions and help maintain readiness for inspection.
  • Provide Quality Assurance: Contribute to internal quality assurance, self-assessment, improvement planning and robust systems that support high-quality provision.
  • Build Effective Partnerships: Develop and maintain relationships with learners, families, employers, education providers, public sector colleagues and community partners.
  • Monitor Learner Success: Support learner recruitment, retention, achievement, progression and the use of SMART success measures.
  • Promote Safeguarding and Safety: Ensure rigorous adherence to safeguarding, safe learner procedures, health and safety requirements and relevant service protocols.

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

ESSENTIAL

  • Teaching experience within the post-19 education environment.
  • Current qualification to teach within the post-16 education sector.
  • Current assessor award or higher.
  • Experience of observing learning and teaching.
  • Experience working in teams to improve achievement and the quality of teaching and learning.
  • Successful partnership working with agencies and individuals.
  • Experience of assessment, verification and accreditation of provision.
  • Experience of subject development and creating effective teaching and learning resources.
  • Ability to develop and sustain accredited or non-accredited community and workplace-based adult learning programmes.
  • Good awareness of issues affecting the post-19 education sector.
  • Good understanding of strategies to improve learner retention, achievement and success.
  • Good understanding of equality, diversity and inclusion in a learning environment.
  • Good understanding of health and safety and safeguarding in learning delivery.
  • Good understanding of quality assurance processes, inspections and audits.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Self-motivated and well organised, with excellent time management skills.
  • Ability to influence, negotiate and work flexibly across service functions.
  • Ability to travel as required.
  • Commitment to continual professional development.

DESIRABLE

  • Teaching experience within the 16 to 18 education environment.
  • Experience in recruitment, development and management of staff.
  • Experience delivering peer-to-peer support and development of others.
  • Experience of marketing and communications.
  • Aware of 16 to 18 and post-19 education sector funding structures and methodology.
  • IT skills to Level 2.
  • Good performance management skills.
  • Occupational competence to NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualifications.
