The Oral and Maxillofacial (OMF) team are looking to recruit a Trust Grade doctor to join our team. This is a 12-month fixed term position starting as soon as possible. We are looking for a passionate and dynamic individual looking to expand their skills and knowledge in OMF surgery. This post is ideal for either a medically or dentally qualified resident doctor who is looking to advance their career in OMF surgery. This could also be an opportunity for a dully qualified doctor prior to ST entry training in OMF surgery.
We would expect a dental graduate to have at least two years of oral maxillofacial experience at DCT/SHO level and a medical only graduate to have finished F1 and F2 training.
The key roles of the post holder will be to:
- Participate in outpatient clinics, inpatient care, emergency referrals, ward rounds and operating theatre sessions, with appropriate supervision according to experience.
- Contribute to the on-call rota for emergency OMFS services and develop clinical, surgical and professional skills.
- Assess, investigate and manage patients presenting with oral and maxillofacial conditions under appropriate senior supervision.
- Participate in the assessment and management of emergency referrals, including facial trauma, odontogenic infections and other acute OMFS presentations.
- Provide care for inpatients, including daily ward rounds, documentation and discharge planning.
- Attend and contribute to outpatient clinics and theatre lists.
- Assist with minor and major surgical procedures appropriate to the level of experience.
- Work closely with consultants, specialty doctors, trainees, nursing staff and allied health professionals to deliver safe, high-quality patient care.
- Maintain accurate, timely and comprehensive clinical records.
- Request and interpret appropriate investigations and prescribe safely in accordance with Trust policies.
- Communicate effectively with patients, relatives and members of the multidisciplinary team.
- Participate in departmental teaching, clinical governance, audit and quality improvement activities.
- Maintain professional standards in accordance with General Medical Council guidance and Trust policies.
- Undertake mandatory training and engage in continuing professional development.
- Carry out any other duties appropriate to the grade of the post as reasonably requested by the Clinical Lead or supervising consultant.
