Triumph Consultants are looking for an Employer Funding And Risk Lead to help safeguard the long-term sustainability of one of the UK’s Local Government Pension Scheme funds. Supporting more than 170 participating employers, you will provide expert advice on funding, actuarial and pension risk matters, ensuring both employers and the Fund can navigate an increasingly complex financial and regulatory landscape. This is a permanent role in Wiltshire.

Location: Trowbridge, Wiltshire, BA14 8JN

Key requirements:

  • A degree or relevant professional qualification such as (IPPM, PMI, CII) or related discipline (or ability to demonstrate skills at the required level)
  • Three years post qualification pension experience, including decision making and management responsibilities.
  • Previous experience in a role supporting client relationships
  • Excellent knowledge of defined benefit pension scheme management and the major factors and issues involved in pension service delivery such as the administrative, operational and financial elements.

Key responsibilities:

  • To manage all the major financial, legislative and administrative aspects for all new employers joining the Fund (which can range from Parish Councils with a single employee to admitted bodies containing hundreds of staff).
  • Manage employers exit from the Fund in line with the Fund’s cessation policy and Funding Strategy Statement, including managing all financial, legislative and administrative parts of the process and leading discussions with employers on any debt spreading or deferred debt arrangements and making recommendations on how the Fund should use its discretion to pay out any cessation surpluses.
  • Providing pensions advice on significant reorganisations of employers and bulk transfer arrangements (more than 10+ members) using their initiative to assess the risks to both the employer and the Fund, and liaise with the Actuary to establish an agreed solution that meets the requirements of the employer body, the Pension Fund and the transferring authority.

Anticipated Length of Assignment: Unless otherwise stated (we do carry the occasional permanent vacancy) all of our roles are technically temporary, though opening assignments can be and often are, extended by clients on a longer term basis and can sometimes become permanent.
