Principal Teacher Salary PT Point 5 (£69,231 per annum).

Days and Hours of work: Monday - Friday. To start 7th September 2026.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to support a highly motivated pastoral team at Ross High. As a Senior member of our House structure you will be responsible for Seton House. The remit will include:

  • P7 Pastoral Transition
  • Strategic Overview of Guidance Support
  • Course choice (Senior Phase)
  • Parental Engagement
  • Line management of PT Guidance (Seton House)
  • Line Management of PSW
  • Teacher of PSE
  • Caseload of approximately 120 pupils in Seton House

Ross High School is a co-educational, non-denominational school situated in Tranent, East Lothian approximately 12 miles from the centre of Edinburgh. The school roll is currently 1226 pupils although this is due to increase significantly over the next few years. The school has good facilities for students and is continually looking for ways to broaden the learning environment out with the school, working together with partners within the community.

Ross High School also has a provision for pupils of secondary age who have Complex Support Needs. Ross High School has significant strengths; however, its motto ‘Ad Meliora – Towards Better’ states clearly the willingness to improve. The school has clear Aims and Values including the Mission Statement ‘Excellence for Everyone’. Inclusion in all aspects of learning is at the heart of them all. The school strives to offer the highest quality of learning and teaching, support and preparation for the next phase in their lives. The school also has a Code of Conduct as well as a Code of Learning. The school ethos is built on these three key documents. An Expected Standards document has been introduced to all classes to ensure a consistent high quality of learning and teaching across the school.

Ross High School also offers a wide range of extra-curricular activities that allow pupils to develop their skills beyond the classroom.

Subject to the policies of the school and East Lothian Council, the duties of a Principal Teacher, as a member of the school’s management team, is to perform such tasks as the Head Teacher/Depute Head Teacher will direct having reasonable regard to the overall workload of a classroom teacher.
