Job Title Training & Development Manager

Summary We’re looking for a talented Training & Development Manager to join the HR team in Middlesbrough.

This role is ideal for someone experienced in creating and delivering learning strategies within a manufacturing or engineering environment.

You’ll play a key role in shaping workforce capability and future talent pipelines.

Location and Working Pattern Middlesbrough, on-site role.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive training and development strategy aligned with business objectives.
  • Create and maintain a Learning Management System and competency framework.
  • Design and deliver training programmes, materials, and induction sessions.
  • Conduct training needs analysis and build tailored learning plans.
  • Manage training budgets and monitor ROI from programmes delivered.
  • Source and liaise with external providers and funding streams for training.
  • Work with HR and Talent Acquisition to design apprenticeship and succession planning initiatives.
  • Ensure training practices uphold safety standards and compliance requirements.
  • Must-have Requirements
  • Proven experience as a Training or Learning Development Specialist in a manufacturing or heavy engineering environment.
  • Strong track record in developing and executing successful training programmes.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Solid knowledge of traditional and modern training methods, including blended learning.
  • Exceptional organisational and time management skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Nice-to-have Skills
  • CIPD membership (advantageous but not essential).
  • Familiarity with competency management systems and SQEP registers.
