Turn Your Engineering Skills into a Long-Term Career.

Are you mechanically minded, technically capable and looking for an engineering career where your skills, attitude and ability can take you further? Our client, an established engineering business with more than 30 years' experience, is expanding its team and is looking for a number of Trainee Lift Engineers across London, the Home Counties and surrounding areas. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with a solid mechanical or engineering background who want to develop specialist skills within the lift industry.

If you're accustomed to fault-finding, maintaining equipment, following technical procedures, working independently and taking responsibility for getting the job done properly, many of your existing skills will transfer well into this role. Previous lift industry experience is not required; comprehensive training and mentoring will be provided.

The Opportunity: You'll initially undertake approximately six months of structured training and development, giving you the technical knowledge and practical experience required to work safely and effectively within the industry. Following your initial training, you'll have the opportunity to specialise in an area suited to your strengths and abilities, including:

  • Repair Engineer
  • Installation Engineer

Once trained and competent, you'll take responsibility for your own geographical area, giving you considerable independence and ownership of your workload. This isn't simply a trainee position; it's an opportunity to build a long-term engineering career with genuine scope to progress into more senior positions.

What We're Looking For: We're interested in people with the right technical foundations, attitude and willingness to learn. Ideally, you'll have:

  • A strong mechanical or engineering background
  • Electrical knowledge or experience advantageous but not essential
  • Good fault-finding and problem-solving abilities
  • The confidence to work independently as well as part of a team
  • A strong understanding of workplace Health & Safety
  • The ability to work towards targets without compromising standards
  • Good attention to detail, including completing documentation accurately
  • A proactive, self-motivated approach to your work
  • A flexible attitude and genuine enthusiasm for developing your technical skills

Location: The company is recruiting across a wide geographical area and is interested in candidates based in or around: Your location will help determine the geographical area you ultimately cover once trained.

Salary & Benefits: The package includes:

  • Salary increasing to circa £40,000 following successful completion of training
  • Annual performance bonus of up to 10%
  • Electric company car scheme with no personal tax implication
  • Private medical healthcare
  • 25 days' annual leave + Bank Holidays
  • Company pension - 4% employer / 4% employee contribution
  • Full initial training and mentoring as well as ongoing development and training
  • Opportunities to specialise and progress into more senior engineering roles

If you've got a solid engineering foundation and want to turn those skills into a well-paid, specialist career with excellent progression prospects, we'd like to hear from you. No previous lift industry experience is required; your engineering ability, attitude and willingness to learn are what matters.
