Speak with the hiring manager about the range of flexible working options available for this role.

About the Role: Join Trafford Council's Public Health Directorate and help lead Trafford's public health approach to violence reduction, improving community safety and outcomes for residents. As Violence Reduction Co-ordinator, you will lead Trafford's response to the Serious Violence Duty, working with partners across policing, health, education, social care and the voluntary sector to deliver a public health approach to violence prevention. This influential role offers the opportunity to shape strategy, commission services, drive system-wide change and secure better outcomes for residents. You will champion evidence-based approaches that address the root causes of violence, vulnerability and exclusion, helping create safer, healthier communities across Trafford.

About You: We’re looking for an experienced and motivated professional with a background in public health, community safety, policing or a related field. You will have experience of leading partnerships, commissioning services, managing budgets and delivering complex programmes that improve outcomes for communities. You will be confident in influencing stakeholders at all levels, using evidence and intelligence to inform decision-making and developing effective solutions to complex challenges. Excellent communication, organisation and relationship-building skills are essential, along with a strong understanding of violence reduction, safeguarding and the wider factors that contribute to vulnerability and harm.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Driving delivery of Trafford's Serious Violence Strategy and wider violence reduction priorities.
  • Managing commissioning activity, grant-funded programmes and partnership projects relating to violence prevention, domestic abuse and community safety.
  • Working collaboratively with the Greater Manchester Violence Reduction Unit (VRU), Greater Manchester Police, local authority, health partners, schools, community organisations and other stakeholders to reduce violence and improve outcomes.
  • Overseeing the development of Trafford's Serious Violence Joint Strategic Needs Assessment (JSNA), and using the data to inform priorities.
  • Providing expert advice, reports and briefings to senior leaders, strategic boards and Greater Manchester partners.
  • Advising professionals and residents on services and support that is available to those at risk of violence.

Working Arrangements: Hybrid working, combining home working with office-based working at Trafford Town Hall. Occasional evening and weekend working may be required. Travel across Trafford and Greater Manchester will be required. This post is subject to an Enhanced DBS check, including children's and adults' barred list checks.
