About the Role: Trafford Council is looking for an experienced Information Governance professional to join its Information Governance Team on a fixed term basis for 12 months to contribute to the important work of delivering the council’s Information Governance Framework. The Information Governance team is a busy, specialist team responsible for a wide range of activities. These include handling requests for information/other information rights and providing high quality, expert advice and guidance on all aspects of information management across council services, supporting the council in meeting its statutory responsibilities and recommending the following of best practice.
About You: You will be motivated and enthusiastic, able to demonstrate both recent experience of working in this field and detailed, up to date knowledge of the relevant legislation. You will have experience of handling complex subject access requests and a strong eye for detail to be able to accurately prepare records for disclosure. You will be willing to develop your knowledge and understanding of information law, standards and best practices. You will be an effective communicator, have good presenting skills and have an excellent record of persuading and influencing internal/external stakeholders to achieve the desired outcome.
- Responding to requests for information under the Freedom of Information Act and Environmental Information Regulations
- Developing, reviewing and implementing policies and procedures
- Providing advice on all aspects of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018
- Providing advice and guidance on data sharing, assisting service areas in developing appropriate data sharing agreements
- Guiding and assisting colleagues through the process of completing Data Protection Impact Assessments, advising on Data Protection risks and any necessary mitigations
