To be a Trust-wide advisor and source of expertise on all aspects of the management/rehabilitation of complex lower limb orthopaedic and musculoskeletal conditions to physiotherapists, patients, other health professionals, GPs and Consultants (orthopaedics and rheumatology).

To be one of the lead clinicians for the South Devon wide musculoskeletal physiotherapy service reporting to the Lower limb physiotherapy lead providing a highly specialised clinical diagnosis and patient management service and to be responsible for staff clinical training and service development.

To take a lead role in strategy, planning, development and management of the lower limb rehabilitation physiotherapy services for both adults and children.

To organise and lead the Musculoskeletal Clinical Interest Group for lower limb pathologies delivering training updates and hands-on sessions for all MSK staff (50+).

To make recommendations to physiotherapy manager regarding evidence-based developments to improve patient care and to participate in working parties and subgroups, developing service improvements within the speciality.

The Band 7 clinical lead for lower limb rehabilitation manages services, supports staff with clinical skills and service development, and inputs at a strategic level within the lower limb and wider MSK team.

The band 7 will develop their own expertise to become the lead lower limb rehabilitation physiotherapist in the trust within MSK services.

With their line manager, the post holder will be required to undertake long term strategic planning of clinical rehabilitation areas within trust estates development.

The post requires close working with the lower limb clinical specialist staff across the wider South West to ensure consistency of approach and delivery of commissioned service.
