This role offers a full-time, long-term temporary and ongoing opportunity starting in September 2026. The EYFS SEND Teaching Assistant will support young children with additional needs in an early years setting, helping them feel secure, engaged, and ready to learn. This role is ideal for a caring and patient individual who enjoys working closely with pupils to support communication, regulation, and early development within a calm and supportive environment.
Duties:
- Support children with SEND within an EYFS setting on a one-to-one or small group basis
- Assist pupils to access learning through play-based and structured activities
- Support children’s communication, social, and emotional development
- Promote positive routines, emotional regulation, and independence
- Work closely with the class teacher and SEN staff to follow support plans
- Adapt activities and resources to meet individual needs
- Provide reassurance and support during transitions and challenging moments
- Maintain a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment
- Observe and share information about pupil progress and well-being
- Uphold safeguarding, welfare, and health and safety responsibilities at all times
Ideal Candidate:
- Experience supporting children with SEND, ideally within EYFS
- Understanding of early child development and inclusive practice
- Calm, patient, and nurturing approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to build trusting, positive relationships with young children
- Flexible and responsive to individual needs
- Reliable and committed to a long-term role
- Strong understanding of safeguarding and professional boundaries
