This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Theatre Practitioner to join the Surgery Division in a key leadership role providing professional leadership through a strong visible presence in order to develop clinical practice and the provision of a safe, effective and high-quality care environment for patients.

The role will ensure patient care is delivered by an appropriately skilled and educated theatre workforce, through effective leadership and the maintenance of professional standards.

You will join a supportive and ambitious senior theatre team that values collaboration, continuous learning and shared success. Whether leading quality improvement initiatives, developing future leaders, strengthening governance processes, or celebrating excellence in patient care, you will play an important role in helping us achieve our vision of delivering outstanding care and creating high-performing teams across the division.

Provide professional leadership through a strong visible presence in order to develop clinical practice and the provision of a safe, effective and high-quality care environment for patients.

Ensure high quality, safe patient care is delivered by an appropriately skilled and educated workforce, through effective leadership by setting standards and performance monitoring of those standards.

Work collaboratively with all stakeholders to ensure a high standard of quality care delivery including - safety , effectiveness and patient experience, learning from feedback.

Be responsible for the development and delivery of programmes of education that support workforce transformation within the Theatre department, including the implementation of new and advanced roles.

Provide leadership and direction, ensuring key performance indicators are met and that the delivery of education and learning within theatres meets service needs and the personal and professional development needs of the workforce.

Improving services

• Ensure high quality, safe patient care is delivered by appropriately skilled and educated workforce, through effective leadership, standard setting and performance monitoring of those standards.
• Contribute to the development of strategic plans that provide patient centred care that meets the changing and complex needs of people who access our services.

Managing services

• To review and refine existing competency frameworks within Theatre and ensure that that there is a robust system in place to demonstrate safe and effective clinical practice in line with legal and professional considerations.
• Ensure medications are safely stored and administered following Trust policy and the management of medication errors is undertaken in a supportive, learning focused, equitable way for all staff.

Education, training and development

• To utilise expert clinical knowledge to ensure there is a robust and meaningful Theatre Training and Education Strategy that meets current and future workforce requirements and aligns with the wider Trust.
• Be responsible for the development and delivery of programmes of education that support workforce transformation within the Theatre department, including the implementation of new and advanced roles.

Operational

• To lead by example, acting as a positive role model at all times, exhibiting high standards of behaviour, setting clear standards, and demonstrating expert clinical knowledge and skills in the clinical environment.
• Monitor patient acuity and activity and ensure that staffing in place is at a safe level and appropriate skill mix for the clinical area/division.
