This challenging and varied role is ideal for an experienced Pharmacy Technician who wishes to continue their clinical contribution to patient care whilst taking a leading role in developing the pharmacy workforce in line with our departmental, regional and national pharmacy workforce vision.

Working alongside a counterpart Lead Pharmacy Workforce Technician within the department's Education, Training & Workforce Team, the post-holder will work clinically on the wards and in the dispensary and oversee training and development needs for pharmacy technicians and pharmacy assistants. The post-holder will collaborate with regional partners and other key stakeholders to ensure all members of the pharmacy team are able to fulfil their maximum potential in caring for patients and advancing our profession.

The post holder will organise, facilitate, and deliver training to various members of pharmacy staff, including, but not limited to:

  • Pharmacy Technicians
  • Pre-Registration Trainee Pharmacy Technicians
  • Trainee Pharmacists
  • Pharmacists
  • Pharmacy Assistants
  • Pharmacy undergraduates
  • Work-experience students
  • Pharmacy Support Staff

Key responsibilities of the post include:

  • Formal supervision and management of the education and training of a variety of pharmacy staff, including Pre-registration Pharmacy Technicians.
  • Co-ordination of the initial training and subsequent maintenance of ACT and MMT qualifications for Pharmacy Technicians.
  • Provision of leadership and organisation for the Pharmacy Technician Assessor Team, including the training of new assessors.
  • Lead in the support of mandatory training for the department.
  • Participation in the provision of high quality Medicines Optimisation services as part of the clinical and technical pharmacy teams.

The post holder will share the responsibility for acting as supervisor and line manager for Pre-registration Pharmacy Technicians and/or Pharmacy Assistants.
