Are you passionate about tackling cardiovascular health inequalities through research and innovation?

The National Cardiovascular Research Network (NCRN) brings together academics, clinicians, health professionals, industry and charity partners to strengthen cardiovascular research capacity and accelerate discoveries that improve the lives of people affected by heart and circulatory disease.

The Network is co-funded by Health and Care Research Wales and the British Heart Foundation and partner higher education institutions across Wales.

We are delighted to offer an NCRN Fellowship, based at Swansea University, aligned with the Network's strategic theme of Tackling Arrhythmias and Myocardial Disease.

Designed to give you the flexibility to pursue your research plans for up to two years, the Fellowship will support the development of innovative, collaborative research towards research independence.

This is an outstanding opportunity to develop a leading research programme addressing national priorities around tackling inequalities in heart disease, while benefiting from the NCRN’s career development and mentorship framework.

As an NCRN Fellow, you will have an emerging reputation for research excellence in mechanisms of cardiac disease, with a focus on molecular, cellular and tissue-level differences that contribute to the origins, progression and treatment of heart disease in men and women.

Through your work in applying leading-edge methods to the study of human heart tissues, you will have established collaborations to support the next phase of your research at Swansea University.

You will articulate a clear vision for building multidisciplinary partnerships and developing applications for external funding during the Fellowship.

You will be a skilled communicator, able to describe your work to expert and non-expert audiences, demonstrating the true value of your curiosity-driven research, and its potential to shape the treatment of heart disease in men and women.

You will be responsive to the patient voice, shaping your research plans to address areas of unmet need.

You must strongly demonstrate why Swansea University is the best place to pursue your research vision and how the NCRN is the critical ingredient needed to enable your work to improve the lives of people in Wales and beyond.
