Choices Supported Living Services (CSLS) are currently looking for an experienced, reliable and motivated individual to join our organisation as Deputy Service Manager (DSM), with future scope of progressing to Registered Service Manager post.

CSLS currently runs various supported living homes in London and Southend accommodating service users with learning disability and mental illness, as the DSM you will be required to go extra mile and play a pivotal role in supporting the greater team in delivering a high quality and effective service working with the Registered Service Manager and Directors as well as other team members to procure new contract and maintain new ones.

You will effectively coordinate a team of staff to deliver person centred and specialist services that meet our organisational standards and expectations.

You will work with families, social workers and other professionals to monitor and review each individual clients\' progress, promoting and supporting clients\' access to appropriate health care facilities such as GP and dental clinics, ensuring all records are reviewed as required and regularly up to date.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supporting and leading a team of Support Workers, coordinating and implementing support plans, risk assessments and PBS plans.
  • Supporting the Service Manager and senior team.
  • Overseeing new service set up, as well as quality monitoring existing services, that include conducting team meetings, staff supervisions sessions, spot checks and other duties.
  • Meeting and welcoming new service users, doing initial assessments and setting up support plans, reviewing, meeting families, updating or creating variety of documentation as necessary in a timely manner
  • To be responsible for coordinating, leading support team and providing support for service users to promote their development in living independently in the community.
  • To be creative and innovative in helping the management team to design new groups and activities for people with learning disabilities and other conditions to get involved.
  • To work with other departments within the organisation to help develop and improve the service delivery.
  • To enable service users to become less reliant on 1:1 support and access services via groups set up by yourself and other project managers.

Requirements

  • You must have experience supporting service users with learning disabilities and Mental health within supported living settings
  • NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care (adults)
  • Passion for delivering exceptional care and support
  • Good working knowledge of CQC essential standards and the Health and Social care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2014
  • Able to effectively manage staff and resources, ensuring a cost-effective service that doesn’t compromise on care and support
  • Experience working with residents who require additional support or complex needs, challenging behaviours and have other behavioural and communication challenges.
  • Excellent organisations and planning skills
  • Effective, Strong communication skills and interpersonal skills
  • Driving Licence and own car
  • Ability to use own initiative in carrying out work related duties and in decision making.
  • Positive approach and attitude to work as well as flexibility are essential to this role.
  • Willing and able to step in for hands on support as and when needed, in particular times of emergency is important
  • Although this role is for our services in London and Southend houses, you must be willing to alternate between our existing branches within Essex, London and Suffolk when necessary.

This job is a full time, permanent position with a starting salary of between 28 and £30k per annum, depending on the level of experience knowledge and skill.
