Our client, a reputable large accident repair group in Sunderland, is seeking an experienced Vehicle Damage Assessor / Estimator to join their busy on‑site bodyshop team.
This is an opportunity to contribute to a well-established accident repair operation, delivering accurate valuations and detailed documentation for customer, insurer, and repair workflow.

Duties of the Vehicle Damage Assessor
- Conduct detailed inspections of damaged vehicles to assess the extent of damage
- Document vehicle conditions accurately using reports and photographic evidence
- Evaluate repair estimates and determine necessary repairs
- Review estimates for accuracy and completeness
- Identify additional damages requiring attention
- Ensure assessments comply with industry standards and relevant safety regulations
- Recommend repair strategies with focus on cost efficiency
- Maintain detailed records of inspections and communications
- Stay current with repair techniques, industry policies, and regulations
- Assist in post-repair inspections to verify quality standards
- Support the claims process and negotiations as required
- Use specialised tools and software, including Audatex, to complete assessments
- Manage workload effectively to meet deadlines and customer expectations
- Liaise with the parts department to support accurate repair planning
Requirements of the Vehicle Damage Assessor
- Proven experience as a Vehicle Damage Assessor/Estimator within an accident repair or bodyshop environment
- Strong knowledge of vehicle damage assessment and estimating processes
- Audatex experience is beneficial/required for the role
- Ability to produce clear, detailed reports and capture accurate photographic evidence
- Effective communication skills for customers, insurers, and internal teams
- Strong attention to detail, organisation, and the ability to meet deadlines
