Sunderland Care and Support is seeking to recruit Support Workers. This is a rewarding role where you will make a genuine difference to adults with a range of needs including physical disabilities, learning disabilities, autism and mental health needs. Our customers have a wide range of complex needs and interventions which can include active support and positive behaviour support techniques. They require consistent members of a team to support them in maintaining their safety and may be required to provide support with personal care needs as part of their care plan. You will engage them to participate and explore their local communities and activities. This care and support should have the individual at its centre, promoting respect, dignity, engagement, and participation throughout the delivery of personalised care and support.

About the role

As a Support Worker, you will provide high-quality, person-centred care and support, tailored to each individual’s needs, strengths and aspirations. You will work as part of a consistent and supportive team, promoting independence, dignity, safety and wellbeing.

Support may include:

  • Assisting with meal and drink preparation
  • Supporting domestic and household tasks
  • Administering and recording medication
  • Supporting money management
  • Providing personal care in line with individual care plans
  • Encouraging and supporting community activities and social inclusion
  • Supporting relationships with friends and family
  • Providing emotional support
  • Using active support and positive behaviour support techniques (training provided)

About you

We are looking for individuals who are:

  • Caring, reliable and motivated
  • Committed to supporting vulnerable adults to live fulfilling lives
  • Able to commit to a designated rota line covering shifts Monday to Sunday
  • Flexible and willing to work a range of shifts, including evenings, weekends and bank holidays
  • Able to work effectively as part of a team
  • Willing to learn and develop new skills

Experience of working in care is not essential, as full training and support will be provided. You will share our core values of Respect, Innovation, Integrity, Caring, Partnership and Being Valued, ensuring these are reflected in everything you do.

What we offer

  • £13.45 per hour in line with the Foundation Living Wage
  • 1 x 37 hour or 3 x 32 hours per week positions available
  • We pay for your DBS check
  • Designated rota patterns including days, evenings, weekends and bank holidays
