The Opportunity: Are you an experienced Shuttering Joiner skilled in both traditional timber shuttering and panel systems, looking for a top-rate civil engineering contract in Wearside? Search Consultancy is recruiting a precision Sunderland. Offering a premier rate of £26.00 per hour (CIS), this role provides high weekly earnings and strong project continuity for a competent formwork operative capable of handling heavy structural concrete pours.

If you hold a valid Blue or Gold CSCS card, excel at reading structural drawings, and have hands-on experience across traditional formwork and system pan work, we want to hear from you.

Your Role & Responsibilities:

  • Traditional Shuttering: Fabricating, erecting, and striking timber formwork for concrete bases, retaining walls, columns, beams, soffits, and ground beams.
  • Panel System Formwork: Assembling, setting out, aligning, and striking proprietary modular panel systems (e.g., Peri, Doka, MEVA, RMD Kwikform) for wall and deck pours.
  • Structural Precision: Reading structural engineering drawings, checking levels, plumbs, and dimensions, and ensuring all formwork is fully braced and tie-bolted to withstand concrete pressure.
  • Box-outs & Cast-ins: Constructing precision timber box-outs for service penetrations, holding-down bolts, expansion joints, and waterbar installations.
  • Site Safety & Care: Maintaining safe working platforms, working safely at height, and cleaning/oiling shutter panels between re-uses to maximize efficiency.

Requirements & Qualifications:

  • CSCS Card: A valid Blue (Skilled Worker) or Gold (Advanced Craft) CSCS card in Formwork / Carpentry & Joinery is strictly mandatory.
  • Formwork Experience: Proven track record in shuttering joinery across civil engineering, commercial concrete frames, or heavy groundworks.
  • System Knowledge: Hands-on experience with both traditional timber shuttering and proprietary modular pan systems (Doka, Peri, etc.).
  • Tools & Kit: Full shuttering joinery tool kit (110V/cordless power tools, circular saw, hand tools, framing square, spirit levels) and standard 5-point PPE.
  • Transport: Reliable transport to commute to the site in Sunderland daily.
  • Right to Work: Valid proof of right to work in the UK.
