Sunderland City Council has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Scrutiny Officer to provide dedicated officer support, guidance and research to contribute to the overall development of a robust scrutiny function.

You will plan and coordinate the individual scrutiny committeeandrsquo; s work programmes, and help enable effective review of specific services and policies. andnbsp; You will undertake associated research, consultation and preparation of reports to support the scrutiny function.

You must be able to demonstrate that you have excellent verbal and written communication skills, and that you can develop and maintain good working relationships with a range of stakeholders, in addition to elected members.

You must be mindful of political sensitivities and provide impartial advice and support.

Please note that this is a politically restricted post.

You must be able to work with a good level of attention to detail and have the ability to analyse and interpret information to procedure accurate and concise documentation.

You must be able to work with precision and within statutory timeframes.

We require an individual who can plan, co-ordinate and organise their own work priorities as necessary to meet challenging timescales.

You will be required to attend evening meetings.
