What skills and experience we're looking for:
- The Ability to work with or care for children (of secondary school age) professionally.
- Advise teaching and pastoral staff on strategies to support social and emotional needs of students.
- Build positive relationships through parental liaison and other agencies.
- Write Student Support Plans with the purpose of removing barriers to learning.
- Collaborate with all stakeholders, parents, family, carers, staff, other students, agencies.
- Contribute effectively in a multi-agency setting e.g. CP, CIN, Early Help.
- Manage the needs of vulnerable and at risk learners.
Skills, Knowledge and Aptitude:
- English & Maths GCSE (Grade C or 4 or above).
- Relevant training in specialist areas and strong evidence of continued professional development.
- ICT Literate - competent in the use of SIMS, G4S, Teams and CPOMS.
- Understanding of young people’s emotional and social needs.
- Understanding of the barriers to academic progress in post 16 students.
- Understanding the Sixth Form curriculum and other learning programmes and learning strategies.
- Policy and Regulatory knowledge for Safeguarding and pastoral areas.
- Safeguarding Training (willingness to undertake DSL training).
- Outstanding communication skills including conflict resolution and de-escalation.
