We are looking to appoint a 12 month fixed term full time Digital Inclusion Officer working across the City, alongside colleagues in the Smart Cities Team.andnbsp;

Sunderland City Council has a strong commitment to digital inclusion to ensure that no one and nowhere is left behind in the digital world.andnbsp;

The Digital Inclusion Strategy introduces additional functions and responsibilities for the Smart City Team, aligning with four cross-cutting themes: employment, education, economy, and health, whilst addressing key challenges relating to access to data and devices, building digital skills and media literacy, improving confidence, providing accessible digital online services, co-ordinating digital inclusion initiatives and securing external investment.

In this role, you will play a key part in helping residents and staff develop the confidence and skills needed to thrive in a digital world. You will plan and deliver engaging digital inclusion sessions, events and campaigns, both online and face to face, while building strong relationships with council teams, community organisations and volunteers to ensure support reaches those who need it most. You will coordinate a range of digital inclusion services, including device and data support, Digital Health Hubs and personalised one-to-one assistance, helping people overcome barriers to digital access.andnbsp;andnbsp;Working across communities and alongside partners you will promote the adoption of digital tools, technologies and new ways of working, encouraging greater participation and inclusion. You will also gather feedback, insight and performance data to demonstrate the impact of our work, using this evidence to demonstrate the impact of our work, using this evidence to inform and shape future digital inclusion activities and services.andnbsp;

We are looking for someone who is passionate about helping others and can support, guide and encourage people to develop their digital skills and confidence. You will be a confident communicator who enjoys working with a wide range of people, whether face to face or online, and can adapt your approach to meet different needs. You will be comfortable using everyday digital technology, including PCs, laptops, smartphones and Microsoft 365 applications, and be confident sharing your knowledge with others. As part of a busy and collaborative team, you will be able to work effectively with colleagues while also using your initiative to work independently when required. You will be well organised, customer focused and committed to delivering a high-quality service, with a positive, enthusiastic attitude and a genuine willingness to learn, develop and embrace feedback as part of your professional growth.andnbsp;

The post will report to the Digital Inclusion Lead, be able to manage their own workload, as well as act as active Team member. The work will combine centre-based work (City Hall, IT Village, Ground Floor) with outreach activities at Digital Health Hubs and other locations.andnbsp;
