NRL are looking for an experienced Construction Estimator to join a national contractor’s Preconstruction Team, working on major projects and advanced facilities.

This role is ideal for someone with proven expertise in tendering, who thrives on delivering accurate and competitive bids.

You’ll play a key part in shaping high-value projects and contributing to successful outcomes.

Location and Working Pattern

Sunderland, based, hybrid working negotiable. Full-time, approx. 40 hours per week.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed and competitive tenders in line with company procedures and submission requirements.
  • Ensure all estimating processes and governance are followed through to tender settlement.
  • Develop quantified schedules of rates and bills of quantities in collaboration with commercial team.
  • Analyse tender documentation for accurate pricing and risk identification.
  • Produce tender summaries to support internal review and decision-making.
  • Attend and contribute to pre-price, price and tender adjudication meetings.
  • Prepare for settlement meetings, covering key elements such as risk registers, preliminaries and labour rates.
  • Support value engineering opportunities and cost efficiency initiatives.
  • Collaborate across internal teams to align estimating, commercial and delivery functions.
  • Must‑have Requirements
  • Proven experience in estimating within the construction sector.
  • Strong understanding of tendering processes, cost planning and commercial principles.
  • Experience producing bills of quantities and schedules of rates.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Experience working on large-scale construction or infrastructure projects.
  • Familiarity with estimating software and cost databases, ideally Conquest.
