Thermal Insulation Engineer (Industrial) - Suffolk & Norfolk Roles (IP14 & NR6)
To apply insulation, insulating materials, metal and surface claddings and coatings to pipework, vessels, tanks, ductwork and associated equipment or other mechanical systems in order to control heat loss or gain, provide personnel protection, frost protection and maintain temperature.
This also covers noise control or fire protection.
Sites worked on are all industrial sites. One role is for one site in Norwich and the other is for work that would mean some travel across Suffolk & Norfolk.
Measure and cut insulating materials for covering surfaces using measures, knives, scissors or machinery.
Remove or seal off old insulation, following Health & Safety Procedures.
Fit insulation around obstructions and shape insulating materials and protective coverings, as required.
Ability to interpret drawings and specifications to determine and fulfil project requirements.
Determine the amounts and types of insulation needed and methods of installation, based on factors such as location, surface shape and equipment.
Install sheet metal (and or other coverings, e. g PIB) around insulated pipes in order to protect the insulation from degradation due to physical damage or weather conditions.
Apply, remove and repair insulation, thermal and fire on industrial and domestic equipment, pipes, duct work or other mechanical systems (tanks, pipework etc) to help control noise and maintain temperatures.
Be able to select appropriate insulation, thermal and fire (mineral wool, fiberglass etc) based on the heat retaining OR excluding characteristics of the materials.
Ability to work with tools and machinery associated with this type of work.
Adhere to both local and site/Client driven Health & Safety policies and procedures.
Ensure that any Risk Assessment documentation is read in full and adhered to on site, understanding any risks and mitigations highlighted.
