As a Porter Supervisor at Sodexo in Royal Stoke Hospital, you’ll be an essential part of the hospital’sdaily operations — safely moving patients, vital equipment, and medicalsupplies throughout the site.

With professionalismand a friendly approach, you’ll help reduce the stress of hospital visits forpatients, staff, and visitors alike.

What you’ll do

  • Manage staffing rosters to ensure appropriate workforce levels and maintain high service standards.
  • Lead and support portering operations, allocating resources and responding to service demands, emergencies, and major incidents.
  • Coordinate patient, staff, and visitor assistance, ensuring a professional and customer-focused service.
  • Oversee the safe and dignified transfer of deceased patients, maintaining respect and compliance with hospital procedures.
  • Supervise, train, and develop staff through inductions, refresher training, appraisals, and ongoing performance management.
  • Monitor attendance, sickness absence, and payroll information, conducting return-to-work interviews as required.
  • Ensure all work requests are completed within agreed response times and in line with relevant policies, procedures, and management systems.
  • Build effective working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders, promoting health, safety, welfare, and continuous service improvement.

  • Physical stamina and ability to walk or stand for extended periods
  • Calmness under pressure and adaptability to changing tasks
  • Previous supervisory experience with the ability to lead and support teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong IT skills, including PC literacy and the ability to quickly learn and use new systems.
  • Good understanding of health and safety, confidentiality, and high standards of customer care.
