Your Role

Want a role where no two days are the same and where your organisation really matters? Join our PA team and help senior leaders make the best use of their time, keep priorities moving and deliver for Stockport.

You will be a trusted point of contact for Service Directors, working closely with them and with a supportive team of PAs. You will manage busy diaries, organise meetings, keep track of actions and deadlines, and make sure the right information reaches the right people at the right time.

This is a varied, hands-on role for someone who enjoys bringing order to a busy day, solving problems and building strong working relationships. You will handle sensitive information, use your judgement and take ownership of tasks, while knowing when to ask for support.

About You

You may already have PA or administration experience, however we are also interested in transferable experience from university, placements, projects, customer-facing work or other busy environments.

You do not need to know how a council works from day one. What matters is that you are organised, curious, comfortable using Microsoft 365, and ready to learn. You will be able to write clearly, pay attention to detail and stay calm when priorities change.

You will enjoy working with different people, communicate with confidence and discretion, and take pride in being dependable. If you spot what needs doing and take action, while asking for help when you need it, we would like to hear from you.

What you will do:

  • Keep complex diaries, priorities and deadlines on track.
  • Organise meetings from start to finish, including agendas, papers, minutes and follow-up actions.
  • Act as a friendly, professional first point of contact for colleagues and partners.
  • Anticipate what senior leaders need and deal confidently with changing priorities.
  • Track enquiries, actions and reports so that responses are accurate and on time.
  • Proofread important documents and help information move through the right approval routes.
  • Work with other PAs and colleagues across the organisation to get things done.

About Us

You will get a close-up view of how a large, ambitious organisation works and the chance to build valuable skills in communication, organisation, decision-making and stakeholder management. Your work will support services that make a difference to people across Stockport.

You will join a collaborative team, with opportunities to learn and develop. We are committed to colleague wellbeing and creating a workplace where everyone can be themselves and succeed.
