This is an excellent opportunity to join the Cardiology department at East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust. The successful candidate will join a service that prides itself in effective leadership, innovative thinking, and excellent teamwork. We strive to challenge our existing working practices and to constantly improve our service to deliver best practice guidance and to ensure that our patient outcomes are successful, and they feel valued during their visits to the Trust.

The postholder will contribute towards the delivery and development of both the inpatient and outpatient heart failure service at East & North Herts NHS Trust. They will also support the Cardiac Imaging Department through regular imaging sessions, including complex echocardiography and, where appropriate, CMR for candidates with relevant experience. The role includes participation in the ‘Cardiologist of the Week’ rota, which includes 1:9 weekend ward rounds. A strong commitment to the training and education of trainees and other staff members is essential.

Key responsibilities:

  • Maintenance of high-quality patient-centered care
  • Shared responsibility for the day-to-day management of the service and participation in strategic planning
  • Teaching and training within the multidisciplinary service
  • Active involvement in multidisciplinary team meetings and directorate clinical governance activity
  • Active participation in continuing medical education
