It is an exciting time to be joining East and North Hertfordshire Teaching NHS Trust with several developments and future alignment with other clinical laboratories across the HWE network.

The ESL (Lister) is undergoing transformation with installation of state-of-the-art clinical chemistry analysers and new LIMS system. The Biochemistry Laboratory at Lister Hospital site performs acute analyses (e.g. Troponin, osmolality) and routine and specialist work (e.g. Endocrine, HbA1c, PEG macroprolactin).

At the heart of everything we do are our core values: Include, Respect, and Improve. We encourage you to embrace these values throughout the recruitment process and in your role with us. The successful candidate will support the clinical team in maintaining general laboratory service provision and quality assurance management.

The post holder will be based at the Lister Hospital but there may be a requirement on occasion to travel to HWE Hub site at Croxley Park, Watford. There will also be a requirement to participate in a Duty Biochemistry rota and an out-of-hours on-call rota (minimum of 1 in 3 weeks which includes weekends and Bank Holidays).

Other responsibilities include result authorisation and reporting, laboratory support for quality control and external quality assurance review, POCT clinical support and leadership, clinical review and sign off for analyser verifications, vetting of esoteric investigations, clinical liaison with ENHT clinical staff (most notably paediatrics and endocrinology) and primary care, attendance at MDTs and other meetings as necessary.
