Leading medium size Civil Engineering & Construction company are seeking an experienced

Quantity Surveyor to join our growing commercial team.

Working closely with the Commercial Manager, you will take responsibility for the commercial management of civil engineering and building projects. is an established, family-owned construction and civil engineering contractor operating across the North West.

The company delivers a diverse range of construction, groundworks and civil engineering projects across the commercial, education, healthcare, retail, heritage and residential sectors.

With expertise spanning groundworks, foundations, drainage, roads and sewers, reinforced concrete, structural works, refurbishment, fit-out and new-build construction , They have developed a strong reputation for quality, reliability and delivering complex projects safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and agree interim valuations, including supporting documentation and final account forecasting.
  • Undertake full measurement of project elements including reduced dig, foundations, drainage, floor slabs, services and externals.
  • Monitor project costs, forecast financial performance and report to senior management.
  • Price, manage and agree variations, ensuring all instructions are properly recorded.
  • Carry out regular site visits to ensure works are accurately captured for valuation.
  • Review site records, delivery tickets, daily diaries and material records.
  • Measure completed works from drawings, site records and on-site activities.
  • Place subcontract orders for labour and specialist trades where required.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed commercial files.
  • Assist with material procurement and take-offs.
  • Work closely with Site Managers, Engineers and the wider project team to manage commercial risks and maximise opportunities.
  • Attend site progress meetings and provide commercial input.
  • Ensure all variations and additional works are formally instructed and recorded.

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of construction cost control and commercial management.
  • Experience with valuations, variations, measurement, procurement and final accounts.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • Recognised qualification in Quantity Surveying or relevant commercial experience.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a wider commercial/project team.
  • Full UK driving licence.

Package

£50,000 - £60,000 per annum , depending on experience.
