We are looking for an experienced Senior Residential Support Worker to join the team at our brand-new children’s residential home, Applewood Lodge. This is an exciting opportunity to help establish a therapeutic home from the very beginning, working alongside the Registered Manager to create a safe, nurturing and aspirational environment where children and young people can thrive.

About Applewood Lodge
Applewood Lodge is a specialist children’s residential home supporting young people up to the age of 18 with complex emotional, behavioural and mental health needs. Our practice is underpinned by trauma‑informed care, therapeutic relationships and positive behaviour support. As a Senior Residential Support Worker, you will be instrumental in embedding a positive culture, leading by example and ensuring high standards of care are maintained.
Working Pattern
This is a full‑time position (37.5 hours per week) working on a rolling rota. The role includes:
- Participation in the on‑call rota
- Flexibility to meet the needs of the service
- Working arrangements will be discussed during the interview process.
What You’ll Be Doing
As a Senior Residential Support Worker, you will:
- Lead shifts and support the day‑to‑day running of the home.
- Act as a positive role model, mentoring and supporting Residential Support Workers.
- Build strong, trusting relationships with children and young people.
- Deliver high‑quality, trauma‑informed and child‑centred care.
- Promote positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing using therapeutic approaches.
- Ensure care plans, behaviour support plans and risk assessments are implemented, reviewed and updated.
- Safeguard children and promote their welfare at all times.
- Administer medication safely in accordance with company policies.
- Maintain accurate records and contribute to high‑quality reports.
- Work collaboratively with families, education providers and external professionals.
- Support the Registered Manager in maintaining compliance with the Children's Homes Regulations and Ofsted Quality Standards.
- Participate in the on‑call rota and respond appropriately to operational needs.
