Whether you already have experience in residential childcare, children's homes, supported accommodation, foster care, education, or health and social care, this could be the rewarding career you've been looking for.
We're recruiting for a Residential Care Worker to join a specialist therapeutic children's home in South Staffordshire, supporting children aged 5 to 12 years.
This is far more than a care role.
You'll become part of a dedicated team helping children who have experienced trauma, loss, or placement breakdowns prepare for successful, long term foster family placements through an innovative Prep4Fostering model.
Every day offers the opportunity to build trusting relationships, celebrate achievements, and help children develop the confidence and life skills they need to thrive.
What you'll be doing
As a Residential Care Worker, you'll provide high quality, therapeutic, child centred care within a safe, nurturing home where children feel valued, supported and understood.
You’ll
- Build positive, trusting relationships that promote emotional wellbeing and resilience.
- Support children with daily routines, education, homework and recreational activities.
- Encourage independence, confidence and positive social skills.
- Follow individual care plans and contribute to children's progress and development.
- Work alongside psychologists, therapists, social workers and education professionals.
- Support children as they prepare to move into stable foster family placements.
- Safeguard children and promote their welfare at all times.
- Keep accurate records and contribute to care planning and review meetings.
- Help create a warm, welcoming and homely environment where children can flourish.
What we're looking for
We're looking for compassionate, resilient people who genuinely want to improve children's lives.
You’ll ideally have
- Experience working with children or young people in a children's residential home, residential childcare, supported living, fostering, education, mental health, social care, or similar environment.
- A good understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
- The ability to build positive relationships while maintaining professional boundaries.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends and sleep ins.
It would be great if you also have
- Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent).
- Experience supporting children affected by trauma or attachment difficulties.
- Knowledge of trauma informed or therapeutic care approaches.
Don't worry if you don't tick every box.
If you have the right values, attitude and commitment to improving children's lives, we'd love to hear from you.
Full training and ongoing support are provided.
- What you'll receive
- £62.75 per sleep in with 7+ sleep ins available each month
- Full induction and comprehensive training programme
- Ongoing professional development and career progression opportunities
- Regular supervision and clinical support
- Supportive and experienced management team
- The opportunity to make a lasting difference in children's lives every single day
This is an opportunity to be part of a specialist therapeutic service where every child is supported to heal, grow and move towards a stable family future.
You'll work within a caring, collaborative team that values your contribution and invests in your development.
If you're looking for a rewarding career where no two days are the same and your work has a lasting impact, we'd love to hear from you.
