Staffordshire Wildlife Trust is seeking a Learning & Development Officer at The Wolseley Centre, Wolseley Bridge, ST17 0WT. This is a permanent position for 21 hours per week.

About You

You will be a confident and experienced Learning and Development expert to ensure the smooth running and administration for the L&D function of the Trust. Responsibilities include overseeing all mandatory training and staff development, maintaining all training records, and overseeing the introduction of a new Learning Management System. This role involves developing good working relationships with staff, volunteers, and Trustees. Ideally, you will be CIPD qualified (or working towards) and have a comprehensive knowledge of Learning & Development/Training, as well as expertise in updating databases and spreadsheets. You should have a good eye for detail and be proficient in the use of Excel for creating graphs, pivot tables, and charts.

About the Role

You will be:

  • Working collaboratively across the Trust and its subsidiaries to support the Head of Department on all Learning and Development matters.
  • Coordinating mandatory and first aid training, managing induction and onboarding programmes, supporting line manager development, and assisting with the creation and implementation of staff work plans.
  • Delivering a confidential, professional service in accordance with relevant legislation, organisational policies, and best practice.
  • Experienced in the development, review, implementation, and management of organisational policies and procedures.
  • Co-ordinating and co-leading the implementation of a new Learning Management System (LMS), ensuring all training content is uploaded, maintained, and accessible, and that staff are trained effectively in its use.
  • A confident presenter and trainer, delivering face-to-face training and presentations to diverse staff groups across all areas of learning and development.
  • A proficient user of Microsoft 365 applications and data management systems.
  • Able to demonstrate a strong attention to detail, with extensive experience in using Microsoft Excel and database management systems to maintain accurate records and produce analytical reports, graphs, and pivot tables.
  • Responsible for creating and updating the relevant pages on SharePoint.
  • Advising and supporting line managers on staff training, learning, and development to enhance individual and organisational performance.
  • Leading the digital transformation of induction and onboarding processes, replacing manual paperwork with streamlined electronic solutions.
  • Raising awareness of the work of Staffordshire Wildlife Trust and being an ambassador for the Charity.

All staff should recognise the contribution that membership makes towards the running of the organisation. The postholder is therefore expected to understand the need for high standards of service to existing members and recognise their role in contributing towards ongoing membership recruitment.
