We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Healthcare Support Worker to join our busy Pre-Operative Assessment (POA) team at St Albans City Hospital. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to a dynamic service that plays a vital role in preparing patients for surgery.

This is a full-time, fixed term role, based in the Pre-Operative Assessment Department at St Albans City Hospital and operates Monday to Friday, 08:00–18:00 (excluding Bank Holidays), over four shifts per week.

  • Perform clinical tasks including ECGs, patient observations, swabs, and venepuncture.
  • Accurately document medical histories and patient information using electronic systems.
  • Support patients with compassion and professionalism throughout their pre-operative journey.
  • Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to deliver safe, effective, and high-quality care.
  • Prioritise workload, multitask effectively, and manage time in a fast-paced environment.
