This is an exciting opportunity for someone with experience in facilitating physical exercise sessions or a fitness instructor who wishes to work part time with adults with mental health issues in community and inpatient services.

The role requires flexibility and ability to commute across Newham.

  • To support in the provision of sports, health and fitness related activities in response to patient need, in conjunction with the Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) and within the Sports Therapy service.
  • To contribute to the development and implementation of specialist assessment, treatment and evaluation relevant to sports health and fitness, in line with the Sports Therapy Team.
  • To contribute to the planning, provision, development and evaluation of the Sports Therapy service.

  • Head of Occupational Therapy Service
  • Occupational Therapy colleagues
  • Multi-Disciplinary Teams
  • Service users and their representatives
  • Links with external agencies and other appropriate community services

  • To support adults with mental health conditions to access sports, health and fitness related activities in Newham.
  • To support the Sports Therapy service in its provision of assessment and treatment of service users with mental health conditions and complex health care needs.
  • To contribute to the planning, provision, development and evaluation of the sports therapy service.
  • To support the Lead Sports Therapist with the development of specialist physical activity research, evidence-based practice and Clinical Governance projects that best support the development of the Sports Therapy Service aims and objectives in the improvement of patientcare and clinical practice.
  • To facilitate physical activity for adults with mental conditions across both inpatient and community mental health services in Newham.
