Speech and Language Therapist (SLT) - CS12288
This role is based in the UK and will be working on site in our UK based College.
In order to comply with our mandatory pre-employment checks, the successful candidate will be required to provide original identification documents in person to our UK based People Services Team.
This role will be based at Leamington Spa, but there will be a re quirement to cover all our other sites on an as-needed basis.
This role is pro rata, so the salary you will be receiving is £26,030.51 per annum.

Any offers of appointment will be subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check (formerly CRB), a certificate of good conduct if applicable, plus receipt of satisfactory references, Occupational Health clearance, an understanding of safeguarding and qualifications verification.
An Enhanced DBS check is required for this position as you will be working within 'Regulated Activity' within a specific place (i. e. the College).
This role is classed as working within Regulated Activity.

BACKGROUND TO THE POST
The Speech & Language Therapist is the bridge between a student’s internal world and their external environment.
Without specialist communication support, students with ASD or learning disabilities face a significant risk of social exclusion and challenging behaviour stemming from frustration.
The main purpose of the post is to support the delivery and development of high-quality therapy provision for young people with learning disabilities and differences, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and other complex needs, while guiding and mentoring other therapists across WCG.
Students at this stage are navigating a dual path: mastering vocational skills while simultaneously developing the self-regulation and social communication required for community inclusion.
The SLT within this setting works at the heart of a multidisciplinary team (MDT), collaborating with tutors, job coaches, social workers, parents, and support mentors.
The post holder will report to the Head of School for Supported Learning, Engagement and Schools.
- MAIN TASKS
- Provide guidance, mentoring, and clinical leadership to a team of Speech and Language Therapists and practitioners across multiple schools and homes.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments and develop evidence-based therapy plans for communication, eating, drinking and swallowing needs.
- Work closely with education, residential and clinical colleagues as well as external stakeholders and families to deliver joinedup, person-centred care.
- Drive innovation and best practice across our SLT provision, contributing to policy, training, and service improvement.
- Track progress, evaluate outcomes, and adjust interventions to ensure measurable impact.
- Deliver internal training on communication strategies, AAC, and supporting individuals with complex needs.
- Provide input on dysphagia management and advise on AAC tools to promote inclusive communication.
In order to support during busy exam periods, you may be asked to undertake exam invigilator duties. The College will provide training.

ESSENTIAL ATTAINMENTS
- HCPC registered and a recognised degree in Speech and Language Therapy
- Previous experience of supporting/mentoring young people with Special Educational Needs & Disabilities (SEND).
- Strong understanding of SEND frameworks and multi-agency collaboration
- Ability to work flexibly across multiple locations and manage a varied caseload
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Full UK driving licence and use of your own vehicle
- The willingness to undertake staff training as applicable, including mandatory Team Teach training.
- A willingness to undertake continuing professional development.
DESIRABLE ATTAINMENTS
- Previous experience of supporting/mentoring young people in an FE Mainstream College
- Training or experience in PECS, Makaton, AAC, and Dysphagia
