Develop your specialist pharmacy career at one of the UK's leading teaching hospitals. Are you a post-registration pharmacist looking to take the next step in your career? Or perhaps you're a clinical pharmacist ready to broaden your experience? If you're passionate about delivering exceptional patient care and want to develop advanced clinical expertise across a range of specialist services, this 12-month rotational opportunity could be exactly what you're looking for.
At Bristol NHS Foundation Trust (BFT), you'll become part of a supportive, innovative pharmacy team, working alongside expert multidisciplinary clinicians across some of the most complex and rewarding specialties in the NHS. This is far more than a rotational post - it's a structured development programme designed to help you build the knowledge, confidence and experience needed to progress your career. Working across our seven city-centre hospitals, you'll care for patients receiving highly specialised treatment while gaining invaluable experience in nationally recognised clinical services.
As part of our Specialist Rotational Pharmacist Programme, you'll undertake 8-month placements in specialist areas including:
- Cardiac Services within the Bristol Heart Institute (including anticoagulation and critical care)
- Women's and Children's Services at Bristol Royal Hospital for Children
- Ophthalmology at the Bristol Eye Hospital
- Antimicrobial Stewardship and Medicines Safety
- Critical Care and Surgical Service
Every rotation offers unique learning opportunities, with additional specialist experiences incorporated throughout the programme whenever possible. Throughout the programme you'll receive:
- A structured clinical development pathway aligned to the RPS Advanced Pharmacist Curriculum
- Dedicated supervision, mentoring and regular developmental feedback
- Support towards a Clinical Diploma, Independent Prescribing qualification and ePortfolio where appropriate
- Opportunities to lead quality improvement, audit and service development projects
- Exposure to highly specialised services within a major regional teaching trust
- The chance to work alongside experienced consultant pharmacists, specialist pharmacists and multidisciplinary team
We're seeking pharmacists who are ready to build on their post-registration experience and take the next step into specialist clinical practice. You’ll be:
- Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
- Able to demonstrate post-registration clinical experience within hospital pharmacy or another relevant clinical setting
- Working towards, or able to evidence development against, the RPS Foundation Pharmacy Framework
If you're ready to broaden your clinical expertise, work with some of the UK's leading specialist teams and accelerate your pharmacy career, we'd love to hear from you.
